All Networks Pass On Wonder Woman TV Show

Maybe we should begin to call it a curse. After years of failed attempts to bring DC Comics' Wonder Woman to the movies - including one by Buffy's Joss Whedon, who was then snapped up by competitors Marvel to helm their flagship movie The Avengers - the character's latest bid for TV greatness seems to have fallen at the first hurdle: No network wants to buy the show.

Deadline reports that David E. Kelley's script for a WW pilot was offered to the CW, Fox, NBC, CBS and ABC, with each network passing. The CW, which currently airs Smallville (based on DC's Superman) and is developing a new series based on Raven from Teen Titans, was said to be interested but couldn't afford the price being asked for by Warner Bros. TV, while NBC and CBS were both unable to pick the show up for internal reasons. While Fox passed because the script wasn't considered a fit for the network, ABC's reasons may be slightly more complicated. Not only does the network have superhuman soap No Ordinary Family already running, but as the sister company to Marvel Entertainment, it's also got two series from Marvel TV in development and has to consider larger corporate interests.

Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot isn't officially dead just yet - There is talk about making another round of network presentations in the future - but for such a high profile project (WW being one of DC's three best-known characters, and this being one of DC Entertainment's first TV projects since the company's high-profile re-organization), this is an embarrassing result.

The Walking Dead

Loved the TV series Walking Dead, kudos to Robert Kirkman! I will sheepishly admit that I have not read the comic book series, but I think I will now... now that I've been sucked in by the TV series.

I was disappointed to read that season two will not begin until October 2011. However the good news is that AMC has been picked it up for another season! We'll have to stem the time watching this season over again to pick up what we missed the first time around.

Lots of questions left unanswered as well... will we see one handed Merl again? What did the lone CDC guy (Dr. Jenner) whisper to Rick? What happens to Zombies when it gets really really cold out (do they thaw out to walk again)?

I'll have to give credit to my buddy Steve for turning me onto the show, and for the wonders of OnDemand for allowing me catch up after missing the first few episodes.

What did you think of the series?
